Planting action at the Sainte-Anne Ettelbruck school
Pupils of the school plant native trees and shrubs
Initiative phase: Well established and runningThe pupils of the Ecole Privée Sainte-Anne Ettelbruck have planted trees and shrubs around the school in a school campaign. The selection includes native trees and shrubs as well as fruit trees and bushes.
On several occasions, the pupils planted trees and shrubs with the help of their teachers. For example, a mixed hedge of native wild shrubs was planted around the school's new sports hall. The hedge provides an interesting habitat for a variety of insects, birds and bats. Another project was to raise awareness of fruit bushes from our region. Thus, a strip was planted along a building in the schoolyard. The fruit is available to the pupils. The school's orchard was complemented by several fruit trees that belong to the typical varieties of our regions. In addition, some specimen trees were planted: a beech, a sessile oak and a pedunculate oak. Thus, our school has one specimen of each of the tree species typical of our forests.
