Planning and participation process for the town centre
Initiative phase: Concept phase
In the municipality of Walferdingen, particularly in the town centre, several parallel public projects will be implemented in the near future or are currently being planned. For this reason, a comprehensive participation and planning process will be carried out until the beginning of 2026, in which all citizens are cordially invited to participate. The aim is to bring together existing ideas and planned projects and incorporate them into a holistic concept. At the end of the process, there will be a development concept for the centre of Walferdange, which will incorporate other relevant topics and suggestions from citizens in addition to the projects already planned.
The process is a continuation of the Walferdange town centre master plan - Walfer 2030, in which the population was actively involved in a series of citizen workshops from July to November 2019. The result of the "Walfer 2030" process is a long-term development strategy that aims to make the municipality more sustainable and liveable. The next step is now to involve you, the citizens, once again. We cordially invite you to the first citizens' workshop on 12 March 2025. For a #Walfer2035 worth living in.
The project is being initiated by the municipality of Walferdingen and the ministry (Ministère du Logement et de l'Aménagement du territoire) and is being supported by the planning office FIRU mbH.

Participation opportunities
The first citizens' workshop on the project will take place on 12 March 2025 at 7 pm at the Centre Prince Henri (3 route de Diekirch, Helmsange). All citizens of Walferdange are cordially invited to attend. The aim of the workshop is to inform you about the process, to create a common starting point and to discuss initial ideas and proposals for a #Walfer2035 worth living in.
After a brief welcome, the process and current developments and plans in the municipality will be presented to you. You will then be invited to express your ideas and suggestions.
For better preparation, we ask you to register for the event. Spontaneous participants are nevertheless very welcome. We look forward to seeing you!

Our aim is to bring together existing ideas and projects that have already been implemented and planned. In addition, the findings from the "Walfer2030" process carried out in 2019 are to be taken up. The end result should be a concept that integrates all plans and ideas in order to promote the holistic development of Walferdingen town centre. The concept should form a concrete guideline for the development of the town centre and contain measures with prioritisation, a time schedule, an overall plan and a spatial model. Ultimately, the concept should result in a masterplan that can be integrated into the municipality's land use plan (PAG).
Target audience
All citizens who live in the municipality of Walferdingen and the districts of Helmsingen and Bereldingen.
